Built by Someone Who Lived It.
PLENA was built from lived experience. Its founder spent thirteen years as a Jesuit priest — a life of service, formation, and scholarship. During his exclaustration period, in the process of parting ways with the Society of Jesus, he found himself in the same position as millions of qualified professionals who arrive in a new country: credentials questioned, systems impossible to navigate, rights impossible to enforce, and doors that should have been open remaining closed. None of the Catholic dioceses in California would recruit him — not because of any fault in his character, formation, or theology, but because his Jesuit Provincial refused to provide the letter of recommendation canonically required for incardination into a diocese. One institutional refusal, delivered in writing, closed every door.
Rather than an ending, that experience became the foundation. The gap between the empowered and the unempowered is not a gap of intelligence, faith, or vocation. It is a gap of access — to the tools, information, and professional infrastructure that some people inherit and others never see, regardless of how much they have given and how long they have served.

Researcher, author, platform builder, and former Jesuit priest of thirteen years. Jean Claude built PLENA during his exclaustration period — the canonical process by which a member of a religious order takes leave while discerning his future path. In the course of parting ways with the Society of Jesus, he found himself navigating the same systems PLENA was built to explain: credentials that needed to be recognised, contracts he had to understand without counsel, rights he had to assert without a lawyer, and a system that closed every door at once — not through any judgement of his character, but because his Jesuit Provincial refused to provide the letter of recommendation required by canon law for any diocese in California to receive him.
